My professional experience includes 22 years of working in the fields of both mental health and substance abuse counseling. I graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Counselor Education. I have experience working with adults and families dealing with issues such as: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse/dependency and recovery, post partum depression, abuse, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment, life transition, and relationship issues. My therapy approach includes different styles, including Cognitive Behavioral and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). It is gratifying to witness people utilizing insight and awareness that they gain in therapy, and then building upon that to create change in their lives.
“Julie Nicolosi is a kind, compassionate and knowledgeable counselor. I am 40 years old and she was the first person to encourage me to investigate ADHD and offered books for me to read. After reading and discussing my insights with her she recommended I see a psychiatrist. She was able to direct me to the proper professionals to help with my overall care plan which has changed my life in drastic ways. I have the correct diagnosis now! Even though I have started medication, which is only one aspect of my treatment, she is committed to teaching me skills on how to live with ADHD. I owe her a tremendous “THANK YOU”! I would recommend her to all my friends and family if they were in need of counseling.”
“I have had multiple occasions in my adult life where I’ve sought therapy to help me through various situations. In my personal experience, Julie Nicolosi is the Best of the Best! Julie is very kind and patient and has allowed me to set the pace of my treatment. I have always felt that I could completely trust Julie with my emotions, feelings and thoughts. There is zero judgment in Julie’s office which helped me to be completely honest with her and myself. I have really benefited from working with Julie and would most definitely recommend her to friends, family and colleagues.”
“The past 6 months of my life have been the hardest I have ever endured in my 40 years of life. The coping skills that Julie has brought to light, and have reiterated to me in therapy, have helped me keep going. Her knowledge and expertise on human behavior and “why we do what we do” has helped me have a better understanding of who I am and what makes me “me”. I feel better than I have in a long time. I have a long way to go, but with Julie’s help, I know that I am on the right track.”
